No Rest For The Road Weary

September 3rd, 2006

So I went to Texas and now I’m back in the eff-el.

Mission accomplished: I got a swank apartment in a cute little community called The Woodlands. And I tell you what, I’m ready to for a new neighborhood.

It’s not that I’m against religion or anything—Jesus is my homeboy and all that—but the folks who live next door are just way too overzealous.

Starting the Sabbath off with a bang (so to speak), Suzy Sexpants was at it again at 12:30 this morning.

Now I’ve never met Ms. Le Sex, but I can tell you that girl is a freak when it comes to Jesus. I mean, why else would she be screaming his name over and over in the dead of the night, like “Oh, oh, oh … Oh. My. God!” ?

And there’s this about her too—I think she’s interested in becoming an apostle of Christ. Around 1 am, I definitely heard mention of a missionary position.

Here’s hoping the cowboy-neighbors I have in Texas aren’t of the midnight variety,

23 Haus Calls for “No Rest For The Road Weary”

  1. marnie Says:

Oh my god. I can see now why you are ready for a new neighbourhood.

When do you make the big move?

  2. Hänni Says:

marnie–I almost choked when the older gentleman who’s taking over our FL apt lease asked “How’s the soundproofing in here? Do you ever hear your neighbors?” I was like “Well, sometimes I can hear … eh … murmuring?.” Heh. As far as the moving date, we haven’t made anything firm yet, but it looks like the very tail end of Sept–a couple of weeks.

  3. kerri anne Says:

Hurrah! for new, (hopefully) less sexually vocal neighbors. Or, you know, better sound-proofage. And also! Pictures! We (or, you know, I) want to see pics of the new place. You know, in your spare time. ; )

  4. meno Says:

We all have our different ways to worship, it’s beautiful that your neighbor has found hers and is so enthusiastic about it. Hallelujah!

    Pictures would be nice.

  5. gary Says:

Congratulations. Unlike some places where newcomers are outsiders forever, in The Woodlands you are probably already considered an old timer. Practically a native. Have fun.

  6. jb Says:

Well you do live in O-town. What did you expect?

  7. The Indolent Factotum » Blog Archive » Welcome to Texas, Yall. Says:

[...] My good friend Hanni–who I’ve never met but managed to construct, with the aid of various photos I’ve collected from her website, a life size model of from macaroni and yarn–has decided to move away from her hot, humid abode in Florida to a another hot, humid abode in Texas. Since I called Texas home for much of my childhood, I feel I have a duty to impart to her the knowledge and experience I have garnered from the years I have spent living there. [...]

  8. Aaron Says:

Oh Fun! I have dear friends, Beverly and Bandi who live in Texas. Just like your hubby, they work as Pilots. I’ll be there in early October. When are you moving?

  9. Hänni Says:

kerrianne–pics are posted! Unfortunately I don’t have any of me freak dancing with strangers in the new apt, but I’m sure I’ll have some soon.

meno–”Hallelujah” isn’t the word I would use to describe my feelings about Suzy Sexpants sitch, but to each their own. Pics are posted. Enjoy em beyotch.

gary–is the woodlands a fairly new community then? I don’t know much about it except it has phenominal shopping–a girls gotta have her priorities!

jb–wow, that was dirty. Good one!

Cody–Thanks for the heads up. First thing I was planning on doing in Texas was to get in a staring competition with the wild life. Crisis averted!

Aaron–huzzah! I’ll be there when you are. Margarita time!

  10. DaReaVeRoFBiTS Says:

That place looks pretty nice, from the outside. I guess only time will tell how your future neighbors will stand up against your current ones. Is there going to be a “peace-out mo-fo” party?

and i am on meno’s side here, pictures please?

  11. Hänni Says:

DaReaVeRoFBiTS–I would *love* to have a drag-down, fall-out, freak-dance-with-strangers style shindig at the B&M haus, but unfortunately with mass packing to do (and only me to do it), I’m not sure I can swing that. I will, however, be getting my drink on with Maaa in a few weeks at CityWalk. I’ll send an e-mail. You’d *better* come out.

  12. Sassy Says:

Yea rockin it like you were in a revival

Good luck on your new digs

  13. DaReaVeRoFBiTS Says:

Hanni - I am there man!

  14. kerri anne Says:

    Oooh. SWANK-ay.

Wait? Texas, like Florida, means endless outdoor pool-swimming opportunities, does it not? * begins to suddenly covet your climate *

  15. Chris Says:

Ahh, the Woodlands. Former Houstonian here. I remember it well. Congrats on the new place.

  16. Jon Says:

Congratulations on finding what looks to be a really nice place to live. :)
As for Suzy Sexpants… When you mentioned pictures earlier, I must say I was disappointed to find they were of an apartment complex rather than your vocal neighbor. What can I say? I’m a voyeur.

  17. Orangepaas Says:

Wow, Houston. That’s only 3 hours away from Austin.

I saw Radiohead at the Woodlands amphitheater about 5 years ago. That’s my only experience with that area, but it looks pretty :)

  18. smug ellie Says:

woodlands = 3-4 hours from me. fyi–can’t get to my email w/o home internet. have new cell w/o your #. hate commenting but it’s all i’ve got. you have my #. is same.

thinking of you, sweets… and praying for safe and happy travels. e-mail me your new addy when you get it, ok?

  22. Suebob Says:

I remember when I was a 19-year-old with my first studio apartment, the next door neighbors had a spanking thing going on…It took me a while to figure out (duh) and I could never look them in the eye after that.

  23. Lizzy Bennet Says:

Wow, Hanni!! You’re moving? I haven’t checked your blog for a looooong time!!! Congrats on the new digs!
